Some food reviews start with high expectations. This one started with curiosity. Growing up, it always felt like Oreos and Chips Ahoy dominated the cookie conversation in my house. Those were the brands everybody bought, the cookies everybody talked about, and the names that controlled the supermarket shelf. Keebler was always there, but somehow it felt overlooked, almost like the brand quietly stayed in the background while the others grabbed all the attention.
That changed quickly during this taste test.
The deeper I got into these cookies, the more surprising the experience became. What started as a simple ranking turned into a genuine rediscovery of how good Keebler cookies actually are. Some of these cookies were richer, fresher tasting, and more satisfying than I remembered. In a couple of cases, I found myself liking them even more than competing cookies from brands that usually dominate the conversation. By the end of the video below, it became obvious that Keebler deserves far more credit than it gets.
Keebler’s roots go back to 1853, when Godfrey Keebler opened a bakery in Philadelphia. Over time, the company grew into one of America’s best-known cookie and cracker brands, eventually becoming famous for its “Hollow Tree” advertising campaign and the Keebler Elves characters introduced during the 1960s. While Oreo built its reputation around sandwich cookies and Chips Ahoy focused heavily on chocolate chip cookies, Keebler carved out a lane built around fudge-covered cookies, shortbread, coconut combinations, mint flavors, and richer dessert-style creations. That variety became very obvious during this taste test because Keebler’s lineup feels more adventurous and more dessert-driven than many competing brands.
#5 – Chips Deluxe Rainbow Cookies
The first cookie in the ranking immediately set the tone for the entire taste test. The Chips Deluxe Rainbow Cookies feature colorful, candy-coated chocolate pieces baked directly into the cookie, giving it the appearance of a classic chocolate chip cookie with extra sweetness and texture.
Right away, the freshness stood out. The cookie had a soft crunch, strong chocolate flavor, and enough sweetness without becoming overwhelming. The candy pieces added little bursts of extra chocolate that worked surprisingly well with the base cookie. During the review, I admitted that, based on memory alone, I already preferred Keebler’s chocolate chip cookies to Chips Ahoy. That is a statement I honestly did not expect to make going into this video.
Final Score: 9 out of 15
#4 – Fudge Stripes
Some cookies carry instant nostalgia the second you open the package, and Fudge Stripes absolutely belong in that category. The famous striped design, combined with the heavy fudge coating, has made these one of Keebler’s signature cookies for generations.
The first bite made it immediately clear why these cookies have lasted so long. The balance between crunchy shortbread and rich fudge was outstanding. One thing that became very obvious during this taste test was just how much Keebler leans into fudge compared to competing cookie brands. Chips Ahoy does not really operate in this territory, but Keebler has practically built an identity around it.
The fudge flavor came through strong without burying the cookie underneath it. This was the first perfect score of the review.
Final Score: 10 out of 15
#3 – Sandies
The biggest surprise of the entire video may have been Sandies. Shortbread cookies rarely dominate conversations because they are simple by nature, but this cookie completely won me over.
The buttery flavor, sweet finish, and fresh texture made this feel far more expensive than a supermarket cookie. During the review, I pointed out that many premium shortbread brands charge much higher prices for products that are not necessarily any better than this one. Sandies also play an important role in the Keebler lineup, as the shortbread base forms the foundation of many of the company’s other cookies.
This cookie delivered comfort food simplicity at a very high level. The freshness and buttery texture carried this one into elite territory.
Final Score: 11 out of 15
#2 – Coconut Dreams
Coconut Dreams brought the ranking to another level entirely. Before even opening the package, there was already excitement because coconut and fudge are usually a dangerous combination when done right.
This cookie absolutely nailed that combination.
The coconut flavor blended beautifully with the fudge coating, creating something that tasted closer to a bakery dessert than a packaged cookie. During the video, I described the balance between the coconut and fudge as extraordinary, and that really summed it up perfectly. Every bite felt rich, sweet, and satisfying without becoming too heavy.
At this point in the taste test, the rankings kept climbing higher and higher, which honestly became shocking because usually in these types of reviews, there are always a couple of weak products mixed in. That never happened here.
Final Score: 11.5 out of 15
#1 – Fudge Mint Delights
The runaway winner of the entire taste test was Fudge Mint Delights.
This cookie completely dominated the competition.
The mint flavor hit immediately, but what really set this cookie apart was the fudge’s intensity. The chocolate flavor was deep, rich, and powerful without overwhelming the mint. Everything about this cookie tasted bigger and bolder than expected. During the review, I joked that happiness was flying around the room after taking the first bite, but honestly, that reaction was genuine.
What made this victory impressive was the strength of the entire field. Every cookie in this ranking performed well, yet Fudge Mint Delights still stood far above the others. This was not just the best Keebler cookie in the lineup; it was one of the best packaged cookies I have had in a long time.
Final Score: 15 out of 15

Keebler walked into this taste test carrying the reputation of an overlooked cookie brand sitting behind Oreo and Chips Ahoy in the public conversation. By the end of the review, that reputation felt completely outdated. These cookies delivered freshness, texture, flavor variety, and dessert-level richness that honestly surprised me from start to finish. Some brands survive on nostalgia alone. Keebler backed it up with cookies that still taste fantastic today.
