It was big news this week in Chicken Land when Chick-fil-A brought back its Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich.
What’s on The Sandwich
The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich utilizes a standard Chick-fil-A fried cutlet. This is nothing new. It’s the same cutlet that we all love on their basic Chick-fil-A sandwich. However, what’s new is the toppings. The traditional Chick-fil-A chicken cutlet is topped with pimento cheese. Perhaps the word topped is not the correct choice. It’s loaded with pimento cheese. Both times we brought this Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, it was filled with pimento cheese. Both times, the cheese was actually a little cold. I don’t know about you, but I do not like cold cheese. In addition to the pimento cheese, the sandwich is soaked in honey. I mean, really soaked in honey. Underneath the chicken cutlet are mild pickled jalapeños. For those who may be scared by the inclusion of jalapeños, fear not, my friends; this is not a hot, spicy sandwich. It’s very mild and served on a nice warm bun.

The Verdict:
Our first warning for those who are about to try this sandwich is to make sure you’re not wearing your Sunday clothes. This is a messy sandwich. It’s probably the sloppiest sandwich Chick-fil-A has ever made. There’s just something about an overabundance of honey and cheese placed on top of a chicken cutlet that’s not just going to sit there when you squeeze the bun together in your mouth. This sandwich consumes your whole entire body. Inside and out.
I have watched a lot of TikTok videos and read some reviews of people’s reactions to this sandwich. I actually was taken aback by how many positive reviews I’ve read about the sandwich. For me, in a few simple words, I pretty much hate it. I don’t know what it is about this sandwich, but both times I ordered it, I could only take two bites before I was done. Maybe it’s the lack of spices; maybe those jalapeños should actually be real jalapeños with a kick. Maybe the cheese should be a little bit spicier. It’s all just blah. Chick-fil-A makes the best fast-food chicken cutlet I’ve ever tasted. What they’ve done with this sandwich is ruin the chicken cutlet by smothering it with honey. It masks the flavor of everything else in the sandwich. Of course, if you love honey, you’ll probably love the sandwich. I purchased it twice to write an honest review; I will never purchase it again. Thank goodness I brought some Chick-fil-A nuggets the second time so I wouldn’t go hungry. Those taste just like my mama’s.
Limited-time menu items have a unique way of generating excitement, even before people take their first bite. Whether it’s a returning favorite or a brand-new creation, many customers feel a sense of urgency to try something before it disappears from the menu. We explored this phenomenon in our article, Why Limited Time Fast Food Items Make People Act Irrationally, which examines why special menu items often create so much buzz and anticipation among fast food fans.
