Long before the company introduced filled twists, Twizzlers had already become one of America’s most recognizable candy brands. The product traces its roots to the Young & Smylie confectionery company, which began producing licorice candy in the 1800s. Twizzlers eventually became part of Hershey’s and expanded far beyond the classic strawberry twists that most people grew up eating.
Over the years, the brand introduced numerous variations including Rainbow Twizzlers, Pull ‘n’ Peel Twizzlers, Nibs, Bites, Gummies, and specialty seasonal flavors. As candy companies searched for ways to attract younger consumers and stand out in crowded candy aisles, filled candy became increasingly popular. Twizzlers responded by creating Filled Twists, combining the familiar chewy exterior with flavored centers designed to add an extra layer of sweetness and texture.
Filled Twists are among the most ambitious Twizzlers products ever released. Instead of relying solely on the traditional chewy rope, these candies feature flavored fillings that attempt to create a more complex candy experience. The concept sounds promising. The execution, however, is another story.
I purchased all of these products myself and put them through an honest taste test. No sponsorships. No freebies. Just real reactions captured on camera.

Ranking The Twizzlers Filled Twist Flavors
#3 Raspberry Filled Twists
The raspberry flavor got off to a rough start before I even tasted it. The candy was stuck together inside the package, making it difficult to remove individual pieces without practically destroying the bag. Once I finally managed to get one out, the experience didn’t improve.
I expected some sort of creamy filling based on the packaging, but instead found a straightforward raspberry flavor that simply didn’t work for me. The taste felt artificial and unpleasant, and I immediately knew this was not a candy I would want to eat again. Out of the three products I tested, this one landed firmly at the bottom of the list.
Score: 1 out of 10
#2 Orange Cream Pop Filled Twists
Orange Cream Pop sounded like the flavor most likely to succeed. Orange and cream have been a classic candy combination for generations, so I was optimistic going into this one.
Unfortunately, the texture continued to be a major issue. Like the raspberry version, the candy was extremely chewy and difficult to work through. There were moments when the filling showed some promise, and the flavor profile was certainly more enjoyable than the raspberry variety, but the overall experience never really came together. The filling helped elevate it slightly above the bottom-ranked flavor, but not enough to make me want another piece.
Score: 2 out of 10
#1 Sweet and Sour Cherry Kick Cherry Punch Filled Twists
The final contender won almost by default, but it was still clearly the strongest of the three.
This variety features two flavors, creating a sweet-and-sour combination that at least offers something more interesting than the previous entries. The candy remained extremely sticky, and once again getting the pieces out of the package became part of the challenge. However, the sweet-and-sour contrast provided some real flavor excitement.
The cherry notes were stronger and more distinctive, while the sour component added enough contrast to keep things from becoming one-dimensional. It still wasn’t a candy I would rush out and buy again, but compared to the other two flavors, it was the clear winner.
Score: 4 out of 10
Final Ranking
- Sweet and Sour Cherry Kick Cherry Punch Filled Twists, 4/10
- Orange Cream Pop Filled Twists, 2/10
- Raspberry Filled Twists, 1/10
Final Thoughts
This was one of the more frustrating candy reviews I’ve filmed. The biggest issue wasn’t even the flavor. It was the texture and packaging. Every variety seemed determined to stick together, making it difficult to remove the candy from the bag without turning the process into a wrestling match.
Flavor wise, none of these products came close to winning me over. The Sweet and Sour Cherry Kick Cherry Punch version provided the most enjoyable experience of the group, but even that one earned only a 4 out of 10.
If you’re already a devoted Twizzlers fan, you may enjoy these more than I did. As for me, my hands were sticky, the bags were destroyed, and by the end of the review I was ready to hand the leftovers to my kid and move on to the next taste test.
