Top 10 Pop-Tarts Flavors Ranked

Some foods are just always there. They’re sitting in the cabinet, waiting for you, no expiration on the feeling they give you when you open that silver foil and take that first bite. Pop-Tarts have been part of that experience for decades, and they earned it the hard way. Introduced in 1964, they changed the way people viewed breakfast and snacking, offering something fast, portable, and requiring no refrigeration or preparation.

What made Pop-Tarts different wasn’t just the idea of a pastry with filling sealed inside. It was the convenience. They were designed to sit on a shelf for long periods, wrapped in foil to keep them fresh, ready to be eaten straight out of the package or dropped into a toaster. That flexibility is a big reason they never went away. You can eat them cold or toast them, and somehow they work both ways. That is not easy to pull off, and very few foods do it as well. I have some personal favorites that I like to toast more than others. I’d rather eat a cold strawberry than a warm one. But with the cinnamon brown sugar, I can go both ways.

The original lineup was simple: strawberry, blueberry, brown sugar cinnamon, and apple currant, flavors that are still part of the Pop-Tarts identity today. From there, things exploded. Frosting was added just a few years later, and over time, the brand expanded into dozens of varieties, from chocolate-based desserts to wild, colorful creations that feel more like candy than breakfast. That mix of classic and experimental is exactly what makes doing a taste test like this so interesting, because you are not just comparing flavors, you are comparing generations of ideas packed into the same simple rectangle.

For this taste test, I pulled together ten Pop-Tarts that represent the full range. Some are newer flavors trying to carve out their place, some have been around long enough to be considered staples, and a couple are the kind that people have been eating their whole lives. Everything went head-to-head, one after the other, scored in real time, no overthinking it, just pure reaction from the first bite.

We also added an extra flavor, so the list actually goes to eleven. (It’s a musican thing)

# 11 – Lemon Blueberry Crumble

A newer flavor that makes a strong first impression with a smell similar to blueberry crumb cake. It delivers a heavy burst of flavor right away, but something in the overall profile does not quite connect. Score, 5.

# 10 – Frosted Wild Berry

One of the most visually striking Pop-Tarts, with its bold purple icing and colorful design. The flavor does not fully match that visual impact, coming across closer to a standard fruit profile. Score, 5.5.

# 9 – Cookies and Cream

A long-time flavor that brings a more balanced and reliable taste. It improves on the earlier entries with a smoother overall profile and a familiar dessert-style flavor. Score, 7.5.

# 8 – Confetti Cupcake

Bright, colorful, and easy to overlook, but this one delivers. It lands as a stronger-than-expected entry with a sweet, cake-like flavor that holds up well. Score, 8.2.

# 7 – Frosted Cherry

One of the original style flavors that has stood the test of time. It delivers exactly what you expect: a strong fruit filling and a familiar taste that feels instantly recognizable. Score, 9.0.

# 6 – Hot Fudge Sundae

A more modern entry that proves it can compete with the classics. Rich and dessert-driven, it offers a deeper flavor profile that sets it apart from fruit-based options. Score, 8.9.

# 5 – S’mores

A consistent performer that blends chocolate and marshmallow elements into a solid, dependable flavor. It does not quite break into the top tier, but it remains a strong contender. Score, 8.8.

#4 – Chocolate Fudge

Another long-standing flavor that leans heavily into a rich chocolate profile. It delivers a steady, reliable taste that earns it a spot near the top. Score, 8.7.

# 3 -Frosted Cinnamon Roll

The surprise of the entire taste test. This flavor quietly moves past expectations with a strong, well balanced profile that stands out immediately. Score, 9.4.

# 2 – Frosted Strawberry

One of the most popular Pop-Tarts flavors ever made, and it shows. It delivers a strong, consistent fruit flavor that holds up from start to finish. Score, 9.7.

# 1 – Brown Sugar Cinnamon

This one closes out the test and takes the top spot. One of the original flavors, it delivers a balance that feels complete from the first bite. There is a consistency and depth here that sets it apart. Score, 10.

This was a straight run through 10 Pop-Tarts flavors, tested back-to-back and ranked without overthinking. The mix of classic and newer entries made the results unpredictable, with a few surprises along the way. Now it is your turn. Watch the video, follow the rankings, and decide which Pop-Tart deserves the number one spot.
