Global Pies Empanadas at MetLife Stadium

As a New York Jets fan, I have had very little to celebrate throughout most of my life when going to Jets games. However, I try to look on the positive side of things. I enjoy my trips to MetLife Stadium, where I hang out with my son and, of course, eat the food. I enjoy stadium food. I’m one of those people who completely understands that the food is always overpriced, but I do it anyway because I enjoy the experience. I’m always hoping to discover something new that I’ve never had anywhere else before. That leads to this review of Global Pie Empanadas at MetLife Stadium.
Global Pie Empanadas doesn’t really reinvent the empanada experience. If you’re a fan of empanadas, you likely know that people who make them will put anything in them. That is very true of the empanada experience at MetLife Stadium. I’ve actually been eating these empanadas for the past couple of years, but I decided on this one particular day, when the Jets were playing the Dallas Cowboys, that I would do a review of four different types of empanadas. You can watch that review below, as I videotaped it with my son.
The four empanadas I tried were beef, spicy chorizo, apple, and jalapeño and cheese. I thought that these four different empanadas would deliver a very different culinary experience from each other. I’ve had the chicken empanadas before in the past, but I never liked them. I’ve also had the apple before and never really liked it either, and if you watch the review below, you’ll see that I still don’t like it.
My overall favorite was the beef. It seems beef just works really well in an empanada, just like it does in a taco. A little beef, a little cheese, some tomato, lettuce, and you’ve got yourself some really good Mexican food. If you’re going to order only one, although you’re going to have to order two because it’s two for twelve, I would highly recommend the beef and the jalapeño and cheese. Those are the two best.
Global Pies operates as a specialty food vendor at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, serving both the New York Giants and New York Jets fan bases. The vendor was introduced as part of an expansion of the stadium’s culinary offerings announced at the second annual Jets Upfront event in 2023, with the new food options debuting during the Jets’ home opener against the Miami Dolphins on September 24, 2023.
Global Pies was brought in as part of a broader initiative by MetLife Stadium and Delaware North Sportservice, the stadium’s food and beverage operator since 2010, to diversify concession options beyond traditional American stadium fare. We have come a long way since the days of only hot dogs and Cracker Jack.
