Some of the best pizza spots serving Hauppauge and the Long Island Innovation Park Photo by Brian Kachejian
Finding the best pizza in Hauppauge means stepping into a part of Long Island where pizza serves two very different worlds at once. During the daytime, thousands of workers move through the massive Hauppauge Industrial Park in search of quick slices, Sicilian pies, and dependable lunch specials. By night, the focus shifts toward neighborhood pizzerias serving local families throughout the residential sections of Hauppauge and the surrounding central Suffolk County communities. That mix helped create a pizza scene built equally around speed, consistency, family traditions, and classic New York-style pizza culture.
Located near the center of Long Island and stretching across both the Town of Smithtown and the Town of Islip, Hauppauge developed into one of Suffolk County’s busiest commercial corridors because of the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, formerly known as the Hauppauge Industrial Park. The enormous business complex helped shape much of the local restaurant culture because pizza remained one of the fastest, easiest, and most dependable foods for workers grabbing lunch during packed workdays. Large pies, quick slices, delivery orders, and lunch specials became part of everyday life throughout the area.
At the same time, Hauppauge sits close to one of the most respected pizza legacies on Long Island. The area has long been connected to the Branchinelli family, a name that carries enormous weight in Suffolk County pizza culture. For many Long Islanders, Branchinelli’s serves what may be the greatest Sicilian slice in New York: a thick, perfectly balanced square slice that has become legendary for its crispy crust, rich sauce, and exceptional cheese blend. That reputation helped shape pizza expectations throughout central Suffolk County and reinforced how seriously Long Islanders take their pizza.
Some Hauppauge pizzerias built their reputations feeding industrial park workers during fast-paced lunch rushes, while others became neighborhood institutions known for family dinners, specialty pies, and old-school Long Island Italian food culture. Whether you are searching for a classic New York slice, a heavy Sicilian square, garlic knots, or a full pie for the family, Hauppauge offers a wide range of pizza spots that continue carrying Long Island pizza traditions forward every day.
# 5 – Albert’s
Albert’s is one of those classic pizzerias that really caters to the Hauppauge Industrial Park crowd. There is plenty of seating inside in a simple, straightforward setting that feels comfortable and convenient during a busy lunch break. It is not my favorite pizza on this list, but it is good pizza, and one of the biggest reasons it earned a spot here is its value. As of this writing, you can still get two slices and a bottle of soda for under ten dollars, which is becoming harder and harder to find on Long Island these days. The service is fast, the pizza is dependable, and they clearly understand the lunchtime business crowd. One thing to keep in mind is that they are only open during the weekdays. I actually stopped there on a Saturday once, planning to review the place before realizing they were closed (you can still order for delivery), so I had to head back during the week to film the review featured in the video below, just like all the other pizzerias on this list. You can also read our full review of Albert’s Pizza here.
# 4 – Mama Angelina’s
This was the most recent pizzeria I visited on this list, and I am really glad I got there before creating this Best Pizza in Hauppauge feature because it absolutely deserves to be included. As you will see in the video, what immediately blew me away before I even tasted the food was how friendly everyone working there was and just how spectacularly clean everything looked. When I see that level of attention to detail, I know the same care is also going into the food, ingredients, recipes, and preparation. There is a dedication and pride here that you only find in places run by people who genuinely care about what they serve. The food here absolutely rocked, rolled, and filled my soul. You will not be disappointed with Mama Angelina’s Pizzeria.
# 3 – Mama’s Brick Oven Pizzeria
When you walk into Mama’s Brick Oven Pizzeria in Hauppauge, New York, it feels like stepping back into another era, or at least into a restaurant that carries a deep respect for old-school Italian American pizzeria culture. Surrounded by classic movie posters and an atmosphere that feels straight out of the 1950s, you immediately get the sense that this place takes pride in tradition. Then the food arrives, and everything starts to make sense. The pizza here was sensational, and when you combine that with the warm atmosphere and genuinely friendly staff, it becomes the kind of pizzeria you know you will return to again and again. Watch the video review below, and you will see exactly what makes this place so special.
# 2 – Leonardo’s Pizza Cafe
The top two pizzerias on our list of the best pizza in Hauppauge are driven by two unforgettable slices of pizza, and we will start with Leonardo’s Pizza. If we had to choose the single best regular slice in Hauppauge, this would probably be it. To me, this tasted like classic old-school 1970s New York pizza, and that makes perfect sense because the owner has been making pizza since the 1970s. He is a very cool guy who once worked at Expresso Pizza in the Smith Haven Mall, and this man absolutely knows how to make pizza. I fell in love with the slice immediately after the first bite.
Everything else I tried there was very good too, but it was that regular slice that completely won me over. The owner is also an incredibly friendly guy, and that matters. Leonardo’s serves much of the Hauppauge industrial section, and, like many businesses closely tied to office and industrial workers, it struggled after COVID, when so many people started working from home. But the food here is simply too good for people to stay away for long. Between the outstanding pizza and the welcoming atmosphere, Leonardo’s has continued to hold onto the loyal customer base it earned over the years. If you are reading this article and have never been there before, Leonardo’s is absolutely worth the visit. You can also check out my full written review of Leonardo’s Pizza here.
# 1 – Branchinelli’s Pizza & Restaurant
I’m going to keep this one simple: go to Branchinelli’s and order a Sicilian slice. It very well may be the best Sicilian slice you’ve ever eaten in your life. There’s a lot more to Branchinelli’s than just their Sicilian slice; of course, their food is incredible. However, if I don’t stress this point enough and you don’t order their Sicilian slice, you’re making one of the biggest mistakes of your life. Do you understand now? You will be blown away by how good it is. Watch my video review below.
