Best Pizza In Smithtown NY

Smithtown, New York, has quietly built one of the strongest neighborhood pizza scenes on Long Island. This is not a town built around flashy tourist traps or social media gimmicks. Smithtown’s pizza culture was built the old-fashioned way, through family-owned pizzerias serving generations of local customers who know exactly what a good New York slice is supposed to taste like. The town is packed with old-school pizzerias serving everything from classic New York slices and Sicilian pies to grandma slices, white pies, and specialty creations that locals have been eating for decades.

Located along Suffolk County’s North Shore, Smithtown traces its roots back to 1665, making it one of the oldest communities on Long Island. The town’s history is deeply tied to the famous local legend of Richard Smith riding a bull around the land he would eventually claim, a story that became such an important part of the town’s identity that the giant bronze bull statue known as “Whisper” still stands near the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and St. Johnland Road today. Over the centuries, Smithtown evolved from farmland and small settlements into one of Long Island’s best-known suburban communities while still maintaining strong pockets of old Long Island character, local pride, and family-owned businesses. That old school identity is one of the reasons neighborhood pizzerias continue to thrive here.

What makes Smithtown especially interesting from a pizza standpoint is the variety. Some pizzerias focus heavily on traditional New York-style thin-crust slices with balanced sauce and light mozzarella. Others lean into thick Sicilian pies, grandma slices, vodka sauce creations, garlic knot specialties, and full Italian comfort food menus loaded with heroes, pasta dishes, calzones, soups, and salads. There is no single style that defines Smithtown pizza, and that diversity is part of what makes exploring the town’s pizza scene so enjoyable.

This list is not meant to include every single pizzeria in Smithtown. It also does not include the other towns that are part of Smithtown Township, such as Nesconset, St. James, Kings Park, and Hauppauge; each will get its own separate list.  These are simply the places that have stood out to me personally through my own visits, taste tests, and reviews over time. Some of these spots I have visited for years. Others surprised me recently with slices that immediately earned repeat visits. Instead of ranking them from best to worst, I decided to list them alphabetically because different pizzerias excel in different ways. One place may serve an incredible regular slice, while another may dominate with a white slice, grandma pie, or Sicilian.

Pizza opinions are personal, especially on Long Island and in New York. Every local has their favorite neighborhood spot, and that is part of what makes these pizza conversations so great in the first place. If there is a pizzeria in Smithtown that is not on this list, it’s either because I did not review it or because I did not feel it was worthy of being on a best-of list.

Everything in this article comes from real visits, real purchases, and honest reactions filmed live on camera. No sponsorships, no free meals, and no scripted reviews. Just a lifelong New Yorker driving around Long Island searching for great pizza the same way local people have always done it, one slice at a time.

Best Smithtown Pizzerias Listed in Alphabetical Order

Brunellos

Brunellos is located at the end of a small shopping center on Terry Road. It is the same shopping center that hosts the popular bar and restaurant Rockwells. This location has changed hands many times, but I feel the shopping center has finally landed a great pizzeria in Brunellos. The regular slice was stunning. The upside down is even better. Watch the video below for a real-time review of this new fantastic pizzeria in Smithtown.

Ciros

Cioros is as old school as it gets in Smithtown. Hands down, these are the biggest single slices you’ll ever find. The place keeps it simple as far as Pizza goes, serving only the basic cheese Sicilian, pepperoni, sausage, and white slices. None of the real fancy dancy modern stuff here, and that’s all right with me because what they do, they do it extremely well. This is one of my all-time favorite pizzerias. And their heroes are to die for, especially their sausage and pepper. This one is highly recommended.

Don Jono’s

Don Jonos is located on West Jericho Turnpike at the edge of Smithtown bordering on almost the start of the Commack Township. It’s another old-school pizzeria with a handful of tables. The owner is extremely nice and friendly, always up for a good conversation. The pizza is a mix of old-school traditional and some very good original pies. My favorite is the lasagna slice on bagel bread. (see the video below)The regular and Sicilian are all so smoking. Sandwiches and dinners are also top-notch.

Manninos

Mannino’s is a big-time favorite among people in Smithtown. The right side of the establishment is a pizzeria, while the left side is a sit-in high-end restaurant. They do both extremely well.  What makes their incredibly tasty pizza so special is their renowned sauce. It is simply fabulous. I had so many of their dinners there, and they never disappoint. This is one of the best places to eat in Smithtown. Read our full review of Manninos.

Montes

Monte’s is another pizzeria in Smithtown that has changed ownership multiple times. It is located in a very busy, small strip mall on Maple Avenue, which also hosts the wonderful Wiensch Delicatessen. It was always hit-or-miss at Montes, but the last couple of times I’ve been there, it’s been extremely good. I would highly recommend their chicken marsala slice, but their regular and Sicilian are also top-notch. I also like the sports theme in the small sitting area.

The Pizzaria Of Smithtown

The pizzeria is a chain that’s been open in Smithtown for a little over a year. This is a wonderful place to eat in warm weather when they open up the entire front of the restaurant, and it feels as if you’re almost sitting in a resort restaurant, except that instead of overlooking a beach, you’re overlooking a parking lot. Still, the atmosphere is high-end comfortable, and the people are extremely friendly. They have a very large selection of pizza, but what I love about this place is their focaccia sandwiches. I highly recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner.

Three Bambinos

I have only been to Three Bambinos once, and I was completely blown away by how good the pizza was. I think this is one of the most underrated gems in Smithtown, because I’m not sure how many people really know about it. Trust me, this place is really good. Watch the video below.
