Aside from earning its claim to fame as Canada’s most popular coffee-and-donut shop, Tim Hortons has also established itself as a favorite stopover for breakfast, lunch, and supper. While scores of commuters flock to get their favorite cup of java on the way to work, sometimes they want more than just a hot drink. Sometimes, they’ll want a breakfast sandwich or wrap to go with it.
During the lunch rush, it’s not uncommon to see a Tim Hortons location packed with hungry customers who find the food on the menu too good to resist. Where else can one go to grab some good coffee, a good sandwich or wrap, and maybe some soup and a donut to go with it? As a former employee and still a loyal Tim Hortons customer, I find this is usually one of my business colleagues’ favorite orders. Among generous company bosses who wanted to treat their staff, Tim’s was often at the top of the list.
Here are the top ten Tim Hortons sandwiches and wraps that have rightfully earned their place on this list:
Top 10 Tim Hortons Sandwiches & Wraps
#10 – Steak & Egg Breakfast Sandwich
Once again, speaking as a former employee of Tim Hortons and a loyal customer, the best bread options for a Steak & Egg Breakfast Sandwich are either the English muffin or the Everything Bagel. This combo makes a beautiful sandwich, as the bagel and the English muffin are best equipped to hold up to the juices from the steak and eggs. I like the Everything Bagel because it adds a bit of extra flavor to what I consider breakfast luxury in sandwich form. Make darn sure the staff at Tim’s toasts either the bagel or the English muffin before assembling the sandwich. Also, make sure the steak pieces are cut into thin slices. This makes it easier (and tastier) for you to enjoy this sandwich.
#9 – Spicy Habanero Sausage Bagel Breakfast Sandwich
The Tim Hortons Spicy Habanero Sausage Bagel Breakfast Sandwich is not for the faint of heart. However, if you love to kick your breakfast experience up a few notches, this is worth it. By default, the staff at Tim Hortons will sandwich this fiery masterpiece between two plain bagel halves. There are other bagel options to choose from, but it’s up to you to specify. Normally, the Everything Bagel and the Sesame Seed Bagel are popular alternatives. Among select Tim Hortons locations, the Jalapeno Asiago Mozzarella Bagel and the Four Cheese Bagel are also available. Whenever I can, I’ll pick either of those two so I can get the most out of my spicy breakfast sandwich experience. The combo of egg, cheese, and sausage gets a nice little spread of habanero sauce on top before being handed to you.
#8 – Chicken Habanero Loaded Wrap
The Chicken Habernero Loaded Wrap hasn’t been part of the Tim Hortons lunch lineup for long, but it has already become a huge hit among a customer base that loves some spice in their food. You have the choice between crispy and grilled chicken, along with different sauce options. If you don’t want the Habanero, go with something milder, such as ranch. Sometimes, I switch between Habanero, Chipotle, and Creamy Buffalo Sauce. You also don’t have to stick with the wrap. You can also go the sandwich route.
#7 – Cilantro Lime Veggie Loaded Wrap
In 2022, Tim Hortons expanded its sandwich and wrap options, including the Cilantro Lime Veggie Loaded Wrap. Among vegetarians, this is a phenomenal combination of crispy onions, roasted corn salad, diced tomatoes and cucumbers, lettuce, sliced jalapenos, and tomato slices. From there, add some cheese and the cilantro-lime sauce, and this is a wonderful wrap. If you’d rather go the sandwich route, there are several options to choose from. For something lighter, go with the croissant. If you want something heartier, the Artisan-style buns would probably be the best option. When I tried this, I made sure to pair it up with one of Tim’s fruity Quenchers. I went with the Peach as I felt that went better with it than the Strawberry Watermelon. It was more subtle, since I had already added the infamous Boston Creme donut to turn this lunch experience into a great combo.
#6 – Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwich
The Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwich was introduced by Tim Hortons as an Artisan-style sandwich in 2021. On a bed of lettuce and tomato, thinly sliced roast beef is topped with a wonderful blanket of cheddar cheese. Making this combo even more heavenly is the creamy BBQ sauce on top. When toasted, the cheddar melts just enough to gently wrap the beef, so when you devour this sandwich, you’re enjoying every bite. One observation made as a customer who stood in the in-store lineups: each time this particular sandwich was ordered and Tim’s had the Hearty Bacon Soup as its daily soup special, there was no hesitation to pair them as a combo. I had to do the same and was really glad I did. I barely had enough room left for the Strawberry Shortcake Filled Ring Dream Donut at the end, but I did manage to find a way.
#5 – Caprese Sandwich
Can you pronounce “Caprese” correctly? Even when many customers pronounced it wrong, ever since this Artisan-style sandwich appeared on the lunch menu at Tim Hortons, it has become the talk of just about every town that learned about it. Properly pronounced as “KAH-PREZ-EY,” this vegetarian-themed sandwich has even won over curious human omnivores. I tried the Caprese Sandwich the first chance I got.
I’m already a fan of artisan-style buns, and I knew Tim Hortons would not fail to deliver that alone as a quality product. However, the layered combination of fresh mozzarella cheese with pesto aioli, lettuce, and tomatoes made it even better. I absolutely adore this sandwich! Apparently, so do the growing number of customers who won’t give it a second thought to order it again. Among vegetarians, this is great. If you’re determined to add some meat, I highly recommend either bacon or grilled chicken. Vegetarian or not, this pairs up beautifully with most of Tim’s soups. I personally prefer ordering the Caprese as-is, along with a bowl of chili.
#4 – Maple Bacon Bagel BLT
The handiness of a breakfast simply sandwiched between two halves of a bagel doesn’t stop at bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato. The sweetness of maple syrup added to this beautifully layered work of tasty art is enough to perhaps order more than one. To make things more interesting, you have to make the difficult decision of what kind of bagel you want to hold for this favorite breakfast sandwich. If you want to keep it simple, go with plain. If you want a little more “oomph” to this sandwich experience, go with the 12 Grain bagel option. Speaking on a personal note, I tend to go with the Four Cheese Bagel. Pair this up with your favorite hot drink and a hash brown, and this could be the closest thing to breakfast heaven you can get. If you’d rather have ham or sausage instead of bacon, these options are just as good.
#3 – Farmer’s Breakfast Wrap
Packed inside a grilled tortilla shell, the combination of cheese, egg, and sausage is already good enough on its own. However, it truly becomes a dreamy experience when crispy hash brown sticks are added to the Farmer’s Breakfast Wrap. I can personally vouch as someone who lives in a community surrounded by farmers that this is a major Tim Hortons favorite. Whenever I enter my local Tim Hortons store early in the morning, the Farmer’s Breakfast Wrap is the most ordered sandwich option. Although the Farmer’s Breakfast also comes as a sandwich, the wrap was most convenient for a customer base that wanted to eat it on the go.
#2 – Bacon Grilled Breakfast Wrap
Ever since ordering my first Tim Hortons Bacon Grilled Breakfast Wrap, I refuse to settle for anything less than what I consider grilled perfection. The mix of bacon, cheese, and egg is already a personal favorite in any breakfast sandwich or wrap I’ve eaten, but when this combo is spiced up with chipotle sauce, there’s honestly no turning back. This is amazing. Usually, when the last bite of the wrap is done, I almost cry when the experience is over. I honestly love the combo that much. Apparently, I’m not the only one, as this quickly became one of the most popular items on Tim’s breakfast menu board. If you want to jazz up your breakfast in wrap form, this is it. You can also order this with sausage.
#1 – Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap
At Tim Hortons, the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap is ordered more often than any other wrap on the menu. It also outsells some of Tim’s most popular sandwiches as well. The combination of grilled chicken strips, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and ranch sauce makes this an easy fan favorite. This is one of the Tim Hortons classics that changed the course of the quick-service restaurant chain’s history. No longer regarded as just a coffee-and-donut shop, Tim’s became the “go-to” place for lunch. Hey, a good cup of joe, along with the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, goes really well with some of Tim’s best soups. Oh, and don’t forget when you order a full combo, you can get a donut to go with that.
