Which Oreo Size Is Best? Taste Test of Original, Double Stuf, Mega Stuf, and Thins

Today we’re getting into something everyone of us has eaten our whole lives, Oreos. Not flavors, not gimmicks, just the classic Oreo, but in four different sizes. Original, Double Stuf, Mega Stuf, and Thins. Same cookie, same idea, but a completely different experience depending on how much cream is sitting in the middle.

Oreo has been around since 1912, introduced by the National Biscuit Company in New York City, and it has stayed relevant for one simple reason, they never messed with what works. Two chocolate wafers, a sweet cream center, done. But over time, they started playing with the ratio. Double Stuf showed up in 1974 and became a hit almost immediately. Mega Stuf came in 2013 and pushed that idea even further. Then, in 2015, Oreo Thins went the other way, cutting down the ingredients for a lighter version. Same cookie, four different experiences.

So let’s line them up.

You’ve got the Thin, and right away you’re looking at it like, is there anything even in there? Then you put it next to the original, and you see the difference immediately. The original is what we all grew up on, that perfect middle ground. Then you step up to Double Stuf, and now you’re starting to see some real filling. And then you hit Mega Stuf, and it’s a completely different animal. That’s not a small jump; that’s a major shift in what this cookie is.

Now, the real question is, does it change the taste?

#4 – Oreo Thins

Let’s start with the Thins. Look, they’re fine. If you want something lighter, if you’re trying to cut back a little, you still get that Oreo flavor. But when you bite into it, you feel it right away, there’s just not enough cream. The balance is off. It’s more cookie than Oreo experience. It lands in fourth place.

# 3 – Oreo Mega Stuf

Now we go the other way, Mega Stuf. This thing comes at you hard. That first bite, it’s like getting hit, just cream everywhere. It’s almost too much. You lose the balance completely. Maybe for some people this is the dream, but for me, it crosses the line. Too much filling, not enough structure. That puts it in third.

# 2 – Oreo Double Stuf

Double Stuf is where things start to feel right again. Introduced back in 1974, this one has been around for a reason. You get more cream, but it doesn’t take over the cookie. It still feels like an Oreo, just with a little more punch to it. If someone brought a pack of these home, there’s a good chance the whole thing is gone. Strong second place.

# 1 – Original Oreo

And then you come back to the original. The one that’s been around since 1912. You take a bite, and there it is. That’s it. That’s the one. The balance is perfect. The cookie, the cream, everything hits exactly the way it’s supposed to. There’s nothing missing, nothing overdone. After all these years, it’s still the standard, and it takes the number one spot.

At the end of the day, this is what it comes down to. Same cookie, completely different experience depending on how much filling is in the middle. More isn’t always better, and less doesn’t always work either. Sometimes, the original got it right the first time.

Now I know people are going to have opinions on this one, so drop your favorite Oreo in the comments and let’s hear it.

If you’ve ever grabbed a box of Oreos and stood there thinking, what’s the difference between all these, this video clears it up real fast. I line up Original, Double Stuf, Mega Stuf, and Thins, show you exactly what they look like side by side, and then put them to the test. No overthinking it, just straight reactions and a real ranking from bottom to top. By the end of this, you’re gonna know which one’s worth buying and which one just looks good on the box.
