A perfect Saturday afternoon set the tone for what turned into one of the most enjoyable food experiences I have had in a long time. I headed over to Right Coast Taqueria in Deer Park with my good friend Ken Sanger, and from the moment we walked in, everything just felt right. The entire side of the restaurant was open, creating that indoor-outdoor feel with a steady breeze, music playing in the background, and a relaxed atmosphere that immediately put you at ease.

We were greeted by the owner and his son, both clearly experienced professionals who understand exactly what makes a restaurant work. Great food alone is not enough, and great service alone is not enough, but when you combine both at a high level, you create a place people come back to again and again. That is exactly what is happening here. The setting feels casual and comfortable, almost like a boardwalk-style spot right in the heart of Long Island, with easy access and plenty of parking just off Commack Road.

Before the tacos arrived, we started with a trio of chips, guacamole, queso, and salsa, and right away, you could taste the freshness. The guacamole stood out immediately, with chunks of tomato and a texture that made it clear it was prepared fresh that day. The queso delivered a rich, creamy flavor that Ken called one of the best he has had, and the salsa brought just enough kick to keep you coming back for more. It was the perfect way to start the meal and set expectations for what was coming next.

What followed was a lineup of specialty tacos that built momentum with every bite.

Carne Asada Taco

The Carne Asada Taco is built around marinated steak, grilled to bring out both tenderness and flavor. From the first bite, the quality of the meat stood out immediately. The steak was soft, juicy, and clearly prepared fresh, not something sitting around waiting to be served. You could taste the care in the preparation, and as Ken pointed out, there was a real sense that everything was made that day. It was the kind of taco that sets the tone and lets you know you are in the right place.

Al Pastor Taco

The Al Pastor Taco delivered a completely different experience, bringing together seasoned pork, pineapple, and fresh toppings in a way that hit instantly. The flavor profile had that balance of savory and citrus that defines this style, and the freshness came through right away. There was a brightness to it, especially with the lime notes, that made it stand out. As we kept going, it became clear that each taco was not just different; it was building on the one before it.

Thai Chicken Taco

The Thai Chicken Taco took things in a more creative direction, combining grilled chicken with cucumber, cilantro, and a peanut sauce that tied everything together. This was not a traditional taco, and that is exactly what made it work. The cucumber added a crisp element, while the peanut sauce brought a rich, slightly sweet contrast. The combination created something that felt more like an experience than just another taco, and it showed the level of originality coming out of this kitchen.

Mongolian Beef Taco

The Mongolian Beef Taco was saved for last, and it delivered exactly the way you hope a final dish will. Built around tender beef with a bold, slightly sweet and savory sauce, this one hit on every level. There was a moment after the first bite where everything just clicked, the kind of reaction where you stop talking because the food says everything for you. As I described it in the video, this was the grand slam of the day, the one that brought it all home. It was also fun to watch Ken, who is never at a loss for words, sometimes actually just not know what to say because the food was so good. That’s what happens when your body is just celebrating total happiness.

Shredded Beef and Cheese Taco

After everything we had already tried, one more taco made its way to the table, a simple shredded beef and cheese taco. No extra layers, no complexity, just quality ingredients done right. The beef was flavorful and tender, the cheese melted perfectly into it, and the simplicity ended up being its strength. It was easy to see why this one is a favorite, because sometimes keeping it straightforward is exactly what works best.

Beyond the tacos, we also tried the Mexican street corn, served off the cob, and it delivered another standout moment. Every bite had that rich, seasoned flavor that makes this dish so addictive, and it easily held its own alongside everything else we had that day. It was one of those side dishes that you keep going back to without even thinking about it.

We closed things out with churro fries served with caramel sauce, and it was the perfect finish. The churros had that crisp outside and soft inside texture, and when dipped into the caramel, it just brought everything together. It felt like the final touch on a meal that never missed once.

Right Coast Taqueria is more than just another taco spot. It is a place that understands food, understands service, and knows how to create an experience people remember. Watch the full video below to see every bite, every reaction, and exactly how this entire meal played out in real time.
